The Seahorse Coffee House, in Seaton Carew, was launched in Trinity Guest House a year ago.

It will mark the occasion this weekend with offers and tips to tempt the taste buds.

And on Sunday, May 1, they’re having a little show and adoption event for Maxi’s Mates Rescue and Rehoming Center.

Reflecting on their first year at their Church Street premises in Seaton, owner Helen Gregory said: “It’s been good. Better than I thought but lots of hard work.

“We had an amazing time and met some fabulous people.”

She admitted there have been challenges as the hospitality industry tries to recover from the pandemic and with people struggling with the cost of living crisis.

Helen added: “We had just come out of Covid restrictions and then people are worried about spending money.

“I’ve noticed a lot more people coming to Seaton bringing their own picnics and water bottles.

“Easter hasn’t been as busy as usual. But we have great staff.

“The biggest thing is how much people love coffee and were desperate for something different.”

Seahorse Coffee House offers customers the choice of four different beans and this weekend they have a guest fifth bean.

Saturday and Sunday deals include coffee and cake for £5 and a ‘Ditch the Dairy’ promotion to encourage customers to try traditional milk alternatives like pea milk.

Helen added: “When someone finds something new that they love and have never heard of or before or really haven’t wanted to try, it’s worth its weight in gold and in it’s worth it.”

On Sunday May 1, visitors and their four-legged friends are invited to take part in a fun dog show for Maxi’s Mates, near Guisborough.

It starts around 2:30 p.m. and categories include best costume, best trick, and best-behaved dog.

Maxi’s Mates will also bring profiles of dogs looking for their forever homes for potential owners to begin the adoption process.

The cafe will also be holding raffles for the visitor center over the weekend.
