If you love Boba tea and the chewy tapioca balls that make it so fun to sip, then you might be interested in Starbucks’ latest test product. Apparently, the chain is testing something similar to these tapioca balls, but with their own caffeine touch.

According to Totally the Bomb, Starbucks is testing Coffee Popping Pearls in a few select locations, particularly in California. While we’re really disappointed that these pearls appear to be only in a trial run or at least only available in a very limited number of stores, we really do hope they could end up in more places across the country.

So what exactly are Coffee Popping Pearls and what drinks do we need to order to get our hands on these additions to our drink (because yes, they limit them to two drinks at the moment)?

Starbucks seems to be testing Coffee Popping Peals on the menu

These Starbucks pearls are infused with coffee shots (of course) and come in just two frozen drinks. Specifically, if you want to try the Coffee Popping Pearls, you will need to order an Iced Chai Tea Latte or their In the Dark Cold Brew.

Apparently, the news of the Coffee Popping Pearls first surfaced on Tik Tok, and we’re just waiting for Starbucks itself to let us know when we might see these larger scale drink additions. Also, we would like to know if they will only add these pearls to these two drinks or if after the test is complete we can throw the coffee pearls into other frozen drinks.

We have a lot of questions and we’ll have to wait until Starbucks itself gives us the answers we want.

But what do you think? Are you a fan of Boba and tapioca pearls? Would you like to try the Coffee Popping Pearls for yourself? Let us know in the comments.
