Md Rajuan Hasan, CCO of North End Coffee Roasters, recently said this during a conversation with The Bangladesh Monitor at the former’s main branch in Pragati Sarani in the capital.
“We are primarily a coffee bean supplier with the largest number of coffees in the country,” Hasan said, noting that the annual coffee bean sales are around 72 tons to more than 350 customers nationwide, from five star hotels to restaurants.
North End not only provides coffee beans, but also all kinds of coffee making solutions, the OCC said.
“We also provide machines and training,” he said, adding that North End has a coffee academy where they offer barista training to anyone who is interested.
The coffee supplier also tags anyone who wants to establish cafes with suppliers for other convenience.
North End coffee supplies include beans from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Sumatra, decaffeinated Sumatra, Guatemala, espresso roast, French roast and Vienna roast.
There’s another bean that North End turns heads with is the Hill Tract Blend. It comes from the Chattogram Hill Tracts. This is the first and only Bangladeshi mix that North End has in its inventory. This has provided farmers in mountainous regions with more work opportunities to flourish more.
North End’s motto, as Hasan mentioned, is “Make Great Coffee, Create Great Community”. This means that North End is striving to establish a coffee culture in Bangladesh and has succeeded in spreading coffee throughout the country.
“We want new entrepreneurs to open their own cafes. For that, we want to support them. North End alone cannot create a coffee culture; we need a community for that. That’s what we do. are working to build, ”said the CCO.
North End has become the second home for coffee lovers in the capital. All of its 10 outlets, each welcoming locals and foreigners alike, have become the preferred location for going out, working and even meeting due to its top-notch atmosphere and service.
As the lockdowns following the pandemic are over, activity is gradually resuming, Hasan said. “However, in the midst of the foreclosure, we suffered like the rest with only 30-40% of sales,” he added.
Since reopening in August, so far North End has been able to recover more than 80% of the business, Hasan said. However, it will take another six months to a year to fully rebound from pandemic losses, he explained.
North End offers several varieties of coffees – hot, cold and iced – while all are fan favorites, for the most part.
Among the bestsellers are the hazelnut latte, the mocha fredo brownie, various lattes, the cappuccino, some chocolate drinks, the hot chocolate, the frozen mocha fredo, the vanilla fredo cream and many more. others. The cafes range from BDT 140 to BDT 460.
And to complement the taste of coffees, coffees also serve delicious caramels like croissants, brownies, cinnamon rolls, muffins, cheesecakes, bagels, etc. These range from BDT 70 to BDT 195.
North End recently launched mouthwatering breakfast sandwiches ranging from BDT 310 to BDT 425.
Recently, roasters have launched a new concept called Trujo-coffee in a tea bag – quite a revolution.
“The prices are very reasonable as our goal is to develop a community of coffee lovers. Therefore, we always try to keep our prices affordable for everyone.”
Interestingly, North End is a Bangladeshi company run by American management. They will be opening the next new branch in Uttara while they already have an outlet even in Cox’s Bazar.
Finally, North End Coffee Roasters aspires to internationalize by opening branches abroad. “We aim to be the first Bangladeshi channel operating in foreign countries,” concluded Rajuan Hasan.
