West Chester Market is moving to the library car park for the summer

We are delighted to see the market continue to grow. More sellers than usual have signed up, and it also gives the community a chance to see new products, she said,

“It’s great to come every week, because you never know what you’re going to see or what products each vendor is going to carry. Sometimes a vendor may have a new product every week, or they may be offering something for a limited time only, so it’s good to come by each week and check out what’s on offer. It’s also good to get there early,” Dexter said.

The new location will create a safer shopping area away from traffic, she said. It will also be convenient for people traveling to the library with easily accessible parking.

To kick off the summer sales season, the first market will take place today. There will be free face painting for kids, as well as string and fiddle music from a family band, The Bread and Jammers. Tweedles Donuts will also be on hand at the market, selling hot, freshly made donuts.

The West Chester Market will offer fresh fruits, vegetables and other produce, such as sweet corn, tomatoes, strawberries and watermelons. Area bakers will be selling breads, cookies and pastries and artisan food makers will be offering gourmet popcorn, jams/jellies, kombucha, pickles, syrup and salsa.

Plus, there’s a new gluten-free baker this year. A roasted coffee seller will sell roasted coffee beans. Additionally, local artisans will sell hand-knit and sewn items, essential oils, soap, paints, jewelry, candles, and melted waxes.

“Residents love getting to know the people behind the products. We have a lot of people coming in every week, and everyone hugs when they come in, so it’s like family,” Dexter said.

The market has been around for 18 years and it’s a special experience to shop this way, she said. Many sellers and buyers have seen other people’s children grow up.
